Prescriptions
Repeat Prescriptions
Repeat prescriptions can be ordered by:
- Ordering them via Patient Access. If you are not yet signed up for online services, please complete our online form.
- Leaving their prescription requests in the designated boxes along with the appropriate payment (cheques made payable to Bottreaux Surgery or cash are accepted). This should be by no later than 13:00 everyday.
- Repeat slip may be presented at your designated chemist in Camelford or Tintagel.
- If you are housebound, your repeat medication can be ordered by contacting us.
Please remember that whichever system you use, your prescription will normally be ready within 48 working hours, so you need to allow yourself a few days grace so that you do not run out of medication.
Dispensary
As a dispensary within general practice we are only allowed to dispense medication for patients who live more than a mile from a chemist or who are here temporarily (there are exceptions to this rule, please speak to the dispensary staff for further information).
Opening Times
Please view the opening times on our Opening Hours Page.
Delivery Service
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays we offer a delivery service for our patients to collect their medication from:
- Crackington Haven Snooker Club
- Luggs Garage in Delabole
- Marshgate Post Office
- Wainhouse Corner Post Office
Please contact the practice for a consent form.
The medication will be delivered back to your chosen delivery point within four working days. Please allow 48 hours notice if we have to order items in for you.
Prescriptions are normally delivered by 14:00 everyday.
Prescriptions requested on a Friday are not guaranteed to be delivered by Monday due to the weekend.
Please check your repeat slip carefully for messages from the dispensary.
Holiday Request
Should you require medication early in order to cover a forthcoming holiday, please write a note indicating this on your request slip. The dispensary staff will then be happy to oblige.
Medication Reviews
Patients who receive repeat prescriptions need to have their medication checked at least annually.
The prescription counterfoil indicates how many more prescriptions you can have before your next review.
A letter will be sent inviting you to make an appointment with the appropriate clinician. Please make your appointment at the earliest opportunity to avoid any delay with your next prescription request.
Pre-payment Certificates
If you are liable for prescription charges and are on two or more items regularly every month, you should consider obtaining a pre-payment certificate as there are significant savings to be made.
Pre-payment certificates can be bought three monthly or yearly. Please speak to the dispensary staff for further information and to obtain the necessary application form.
Prescription Fees
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
